The My School website will deliver more information on school performance and school funding sources than has ever previously been available to teachers and parents, when My School 2.0 goes live on Friday 4 March.

School Education Minister Peter Garrett today announced that the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has advised the Government that My School 2.0 will be ready to go live on 4 March.

“In a year where we are delivering major reforms to education including the start of the National Curriculum and new professional teacher standards, the launch of My School 2.0 is another major initiative to improve education,” Mr Garrett said.

“This will be the first time that financial information and growth in student performance is available for the whole community to see. Previously, much of this information was only available to bureaucrats and education officials.

“When My School was launched last year it opened the doors of all schools to the public and millions of Australians have used the site to get more information about their schools, demonstrating that the community is very interested in the data provided.

“My School 2.0 will take transparency to a new level with a range of new features, because the more we know about what’s happening in our schools and the more that parents can find out about their local schools, the better.

“The advice from ACARA comes after rigorous testing, consultation and validation of the new data that will go on the site, to ensure it’s meaningful, accurate, comparable and that schools understand how their information will be presented.

“Our government believes in supporting schools through genuine education reform and we are investing $64.9 billion in education because we want every school to be a great school.”
